What you'll do

  • Build a relationship with our users and understand their financial challenges and why they use Thamani.
  • Turn shipped product features into simple, useful messages.
  • Plan and run campaigns across social media, communities, partnerships, and other channels.
  • Create product content — launch messages, app-store copy, social posts, guides, and website content.
  • Support the launch of new features.
  • Find ways to improve app installs, onboarding, regular use, and referrals.
  • Collect user feedback and share useful insights with the engineering team.
  • Track campaign results and use the findings to improve future work.
  • Help build a consistent Thamani brand and voice with the engineering and design team.
03

About you

  • Curiosity (and/or experience) in marketing a digital product, mobile app, or online service.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to explain financial or technical ideas in simple language.
  • You can plan and run marketing campaigns.
  • Comfortable using data (like PostHog and Google Analytics) to understand what's working.
  • Willingness to speak directly with users and learn from them.
  • Able to work independently and turn ideas into completed work.
  • A good understanding of the Kenyan market and how people manage money.
  • Fintech or personal-finance experience helps, but isn't required — we want the right psych and learning ability.
04

How success is measured

  • More users discovering and installing Thamani month on month.
  • More new users completing onboarding and actually using the product.
  • Better engagement and retention among existing users.
  • Clearer product messaging.
  • Consistent delivery and measurement of campaigns.
  • Useful customer insights reaching the product & engineering team.

05 — How to apply

Show us how you think.

No CV needed. Pick one app — Uber. Everyone in Kenya has an opinion on it, so we can compare answers fairly. Give us three sentences.

1

What it does

Explain Uber in one sentence — to someone who's never heard of it and isn't techy.

Strip the product down to its simplest, truest value. No jargon, no feature lists — just what it really does for a person.

2

One thing you'd change

In one sentence: what you'd change, and the trade-off you'd accept to do it.

Every good decision costs something. We want to see that you understand the cost — not just the idea.

3

Your next campaign for it

In one sentence, pitch the campaign — plus a link to something that inspired the idea.

Show us how you'd get more people to discover and use it, and where your taste and ideas come from.

We're reading for how you think, not how polished it is.
